Banksia menziesii
This incredible wildflower is native to Western Australia, where it enjoys growing in the deep, sandy, well-drained soils along the coast. The fresh flowers bloom in warm, beautiful shades of sunshine and burgundy and have wonderfully ornate leaves that are tough and leathery. As with all banksias, they dry perfectly; the colours gently fade, drawing your focus to the detail of the inflorescence, the depth of the serrated leaves and the fuzzy texture of the stems. Five flowers are a perfect amount for arranging in a large vase, three for a medium vase; they also look lovely hung in a large bunch against a wall or door.
