by Thistle Y. Harris

Illustrated by Adam Forster

Vintage copy - Published 1967

Anybody who takes a walk in the bush and wants to identify a wild flower will find Thistle Harris an indispensable guide.  Whether it is the tiny helmet orchid that crouches among fallen leaves, the pink and creamy Dracophyllum secundum that hangs its sprays down the walls of deep gullies, the prickly needlebush of the heathlands that decorates itself with fine white lace, the snow daisies of Kosciusko, the scaly buttons of the dry inland or the yellow marsh flowers of the swamps, here their recognition is made simple by precise description and by clear illustrations in colour.  The more technical classifications at the back are intended mainly for the student.

Over 250 Australian wild flowers are portrayed in natural colour from paintings by the late Adam Forster, and were chosen to encompass, as far as possible, the wild flowers most likely to be found in each State, though many of the rarer types are also included.

- Beautiful green dust jacket, with vintage botanical illustrations, over a green cloth hardcover

- A remarkable classic, for all nature lovers, gardeners, and flower lovers.  I refer to this book often, as I keep one in my own collection.  The illustrations are stunning, and somewhat even more special as the artist never lived to see this work published.

- This is a vintage book in excellent condition, no major marks or damage is notable, except for the dust jacket, which is slightly stuck to the hardcover at the binding, so it may be torn if removed.  I would recommend leaving the beautiful dust jacket in place
